We are holding open auditions for Hurricane Diane by Madeleine George on June 21 and 22, 2025.
Hurricane Diane is being presented as a staged reading, in partnership with Pride in the Highlands as a part of this year's Pride Week celebrations.
While actors of all identities are welcome to audition, since the show specifically explores queer relationships and identities, we will be prioritizing the casting of LGBTQ2S+ performers. All the characters in the show are adults of any age.
As this is a reading, not a fully staged production, we will have a limited rehearsal schedule. Actors are not required to learn their lines, and there will only be minimal costumes, props, and blocking. No acting experience required, just a willingness to learn.

Auditions will be held at the Minden Lions Hall (166 Bobcaygeon Rd, Minden, ON). To book an audition slot now, fill out the google form, and a member of the Ctrl-ART-Del will be in touch.

Detailed information about the shows and available roles can be found here.

If you are interested in auditioning, but are not available on June 21 and 22, email us at info@ctrlartdel.ca so we can set up a Zoom audition.
The Audition Process:
In person auditions will be held at the Minden Lions Hall on June 21st and 22nd. You will be asked to perform a short scene from the show for the creative team. The sides that you will be working from can be found here.
Please prepare sides for whichever character you are most interested in. If auditioning for Diane, please prepare both the Diane monologue and any other set of sides. If interested in the Narrator, please prepare the Diane monologue.

These sides do not need to be memorized, but please get comfortable with the words so that you don’t need to be glued to the paper. A member of the creative team will read the scene with you.

We may also ask you to do a cold reading (an unrehearsed reading) from a different scene, or as a different character, in the audition.

If you are not available to attend in-person auditions, please contact us at info@ctrlartdel.ca and we will arrange for a Zoom audition.

Rehearsal and Production Schedule:

Since Hurricane Diane is being presented as a reading, we will have a limited rehearsal schedule where we focus on character arcs and story themes being presented. We plan to hold three rehearsals in advance of the performance (between late July and early August), along with a dress rehearsal on the day before the performance, Wednesday August 20th.

The rehearsal schedule will be created in consultation with the cast.

The performance will be held at the Minden Hills Cultural Centre on Thursday, August 21st at 5:30 PM.
Accessibility:
We are committed to providing a safe and inclusive audition experience for all. If there are any accommodations you need from us to allow you to give your best audition, send us a message at info@ctrlartdel.ca
